Early Government
A brief history of some of the early leaders of the DeTour Area.
Thomas Sims, born and married in England, came to DeTour in 1856.
He worked in commercial fishing operation and real estate as well having served as supervisor for a time.
Castle L. Newell settled in DeTour after the Civil War, in which he was a commissioned officer. He also served as sheriff in 1884.
Thomas C Anthony, born in England, moved to DeTour in 1878 where he served as lighhouse tender until 1880.
Elias H. Jones came in 1881 and later served as justice of the peace. |
